Earlier this year, I teamed up with a bunch of amazing creatives with the vision of telling a Modern Dark Fairytale.
We chose to create our own modern day Bridal Maleficent, with plenty of powerful purple and dark hues.
The Story behind our Fairytale:
This styled shoot was inspired by the strong, romantic bride with an edge. We wanted our bride to represent that of an enchantress, someone captivatingly powerful and fiercely in love.
We aimed to create a modern dark fairy tale, all whilst having a romantic touch. The shoot was anything but traditional and incorporated bold and moody aspects such as black torn stationary, a crystal quartz crown and a trio of black cakes.
The Perfection Project and Xavier Nicolee chose to incorporate purple into the styling and florals. Purple was chosen as it is believed to symbolise power and mystery. Lighter tones of purple were also used to symbolise romance. Finally, gold tones were also included to add a hint of magical romance.
Our Arbour, created by Xavier Nicolee, was designed to represent a Lunar eclipse. Xavier chose this eclipse because the moon is central to most enchantments. Whilst we had seen half moons created before, we had never seen a full eclipse and wanted to create something completely unique. We believed by incorporating an eclipse into our shoot, this would add a further powerful and enchanting feel.
Every detail, from the colour palette, the brides crown, edgy stationary and styling were used to create the powerful, fairy tale vibe to the shoot.
Romance should be powerful and intimate in every way - we wanted to create these emotions through this shoot.
